Leo Murrieta
Leo Murrieta is the State Director of Make the Road Nevada, where he leads one of the state’s most impactful grassroots organizations fighting for immigrant, working-class, and Latine communities. Born and raised in Nevada, Murrieta has dedicated his career to ensuring that those most affected by policy decisions have a powerful voice in elections, legislative debates, and community decision-making.
Before joining Make the Road Nevada, Murrieta organized with labor unions and community-based coalitions across the state, developing campaigns focused on worker justice, immigrant rights, and expanding democratic participation. His leadership philosophy centers community members as the drivers of change, a principle that grounds Make the Road Nevada’s year-round organizing model.
Under his direction, Make the Road Nevada has grown into a statewide force by expanding its membership, building a canvass and leadership pipeline, advancing major legislative victories, and strengthening representation for Latine, immigrant, and working-class Nevadans. Murrieta has been a key voice in statewide fights for affordable housing, immigrant protections, economic justice, climate equity, and reproductive freedom.
Beyond his organizing work, Murrieta is deeply rooted in family and joy. He loves spending time with his husband, is an enthusiastic dog dad, and constantly fights for the title of favorite uncle to his niblings.
