Molly Fleming

Senior Organizer and State Strategist
Organizing Lab and Parents for KC Kids

Molly Fleming (she/her) is a community organizer and state strategist with over fifteen years experience building organizing and voter power in Missouri.  She works with the Organizing Lab as a Senior Organizer, supporting training and coaching interventions to strengthen grassroots organizing in dozens of institutions across the country, with a priority in the long term work to build a multiracial governing majority in Missouri.  She is also a founding and active lead organizer with Parents for KC Kids and its expansion projects across Missouri, a community of thousands of parents working to ensure every child in her community has access to excellent public education.

For much of the last decade, Molly founded and directed the Missouri Organizing and Voter Engagement Collaborative (MOVE) and MOVE Action, c3 and c4 coordinating tables catalyzing political transformation in Missouri through scaled strategic voter engagement driven by grassroots organizations. Under her leadership, MOVE and MOVE Action member organizations won major ballot initiatives, including an increase in the minimum wage, major ethics and redistricting reform, defense of collective bargaining rights, and Medicaid expansion. Previously, she directed Faith in Action’s national campaign to end predatory payday lending and was a founding organizer with Showing Up for Racial Justice Kansas City (SURJ KC), which organizes white people as part of a multiracial majority to confront, disrupt, and dismantle white supremacy.

Prior to organizing, Molly worked on political campaigns, as a public-school teacher, and as a labor union educator. She is a proud 5th generation Kansas Citian, the oldest daughter of a grocery store worker and a preschool teacher who taught her, at a very young age, to cheer for the underdog.
